02 November 2015

After more than four decades at the head of the IDRC, Dr. Michel G. Bergeron will be leaving his position as director in 2016. Dr. Gary Kobinger, a leader in Ebola virus research, will be leaving the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg to come to Quebec City and take the lead at the IDRC where he intends to continue his research and develop new collaborations. The IDRC is very proud to welcome Dr. Kobinger and wishes him a pleasant transition. The IDRC would also like to warmly thank Dr. Michel G. Bergeron for his passion and dedication to the development of infectious disease research in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada and internationally over the past 40 years. His great sense of leadership, his vision for the valorization of basic research, his passion for the people who carry out this research, his mission of research and teaching as well as his humanism have made him a director who will be very difficult to replace. The IDRC is confident that Dr. Kobinger will successfully meet the challenge.
